Ingredients:
- 1 c milk
- 6 bread slices
- 2 lb ground beef
- 1 c grated parmesan cheese
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp seasoned salt
- Freshly ground black pepper
- 1/4 – 1/2 c minced flat-leaf parsley
- 4 eggs, beaten
- 8-12 bacon slices
Tomato gravy:
- 1 1/2 c ketchup
- 6 TBL brown sugar
- 1 tsp dry mustard
- dash of hot sauce
Preparation:
- Preheat oven to 350F
- Pour the milk over the bread and allow it to soak for several min
- Place the ground beef, milk-soaked bread, Parmesan cheese, salt, seasoned salt, black pepper, and parsley in a large bowl. Pour in the eggs
- With clean hands, mix the ingredients until well combined
- Form the mixture in a loaf on a broiler pan
- Lay the bacon slices over the top tucking the end underneath the loaf’
- Next, make the tomato gravy stirring all ingredients until combined then pouring 1/3 of it over the loaf
- Bake for 45 min, then pour another 1/3 of the gravy over the loaf before baking for another 15 min
- Serve with the remaining gravy as a side dipping dish
